The Maker’s Mark® Private Select Process
What sets this bourbon apart isn’t just its remarkable flavor — it’s the one-of-a-kind process behind it. The Maker’s Mark® Private Select program is unlike anything else in the world of bourbon. It begins with Bill Samuels, Sr.’s classic recipe — the same that made Maker’s Mark® a household name — and layers in innovation pioneered by Bill Samuels, Jr. through a unique oak stave finishing process.
How It Works:
- After traditional aging, the bourbon is placed back into the barrel with five custom oak staves.
- There are 1,001 possible stave combinations, meaning no two barrels have to be the same.
- Our team at PIER 290 carefully selected a proprietary mix of staves designed to highlight deep, rich flavors — creating a bourbon profile that you can’t find anywhere else.
- The bourbon is then returned to the barrel to finish aging for an additional nine weeks, similar to the process used for Maker’s Mark 46®, but with a personal twist tailored just for us.
The result? A stunningly complex, smooth bourbon that captures the essence of PIER 290’s adventurous spirit.
